Neal was introduced to music at 8 years old -- when his
parents presented him with an accordion. After a
long-lasting depression, he emerged from his room at the
age of 12 and demanded drum lessons.
His parents gave in but his father predicted Neal would
quit within a week. In keeping with his character of
desperately wanting to keep everyone happy, he continued
playing for the next 40 years.
He did take a break from the bongos for about 10 years
after college but one night on a date with his
soon-to-be wife, he told her he could play drums better
than the drummer on stage. She didn't even know he
played and called his bluff. He went up and proved it.
Neal went out and bought a drum set shortly thereafter
and has been inseparable from them ever since.
Neal's played with a variety of rock bands over the last
20 years and joined Betty in early 2011. |
